May 4 - 8 Assignments listed here represent the "Plan" for the week. Plans of course are subject to change as needed, so this should not be considered the last word on what will take place in class or will be assigned for homework. When plans do change however, the changes will be reflected here (hopefully by the evening of the day in which they are known to exist).

for Wednesday's 7th Grade Vocabulary Test will be Tuesday.

Extra Help is available this week. Students may use this pass to get help with assigned work

Students will begin class with
10 minutes of independent reading.

Students will then complete the
reading of Chapter 17 and finish up the Chapter 16 - 17 activities
focusing on Foreshadowing and Figurative language.
Homework:
Two Word Work Words from The Devil's Arithmetic are due by
Friday.

Tuesday

Students will begin class with
10 minutes of independent reading.

Students will be given time to review
their notes from the Chapter 16-17activities before taking the
Chapters 16-17 Quiz. This will be an open book quiz.

Students will be given remaining time
to work on their weekly work.
Homework:
Two Word Work Words from The Devil's Arithmetic are due by
Friday.

- Early release PLC schedule

Students will begin class with 10
minutes of independent reading of their self-selected novel.

Students will begin the reading and
discussion of Chapters 18 through the end of the novel. If we
finish the novel today, students will begin collaborating on their
responses to the related questions.
Homework:
Two Word Work Words from The Devil's Arithmetic are due by
Friday.

Students will begin the class with 10 minutes
of independent
reading.

Students will complete the reading
and discussion of Chapters 18 through the end of the novel.
Students will complete the Chapter questions and turn them in.

Any additional time will be committed
to students' time to finish responses or Word Work or Quiz
Corrections.
Homework:
Two Word Work Words from The Devil's Arithmetic are due by
Friday.

Friday

Students will
begin class with 10 minutes of independent reading.

Students will then view the 1st half
of the film version of The Devil's Arithmetic. They will note
changes that they notice were made to the telling of the story in
this format and comment on whether they thought those changes
strengthened or weakend the story.
Homework: Students who have completed
their work for the week have no homework over the weekend.

a grammar warm-up completing the complex sentences about the story
they began last week.

Students will then complete the
reading of Chapter 3. Students will complete their work on the
Chapter 3 study guide.
Homework: Students should be studying for
Wednesday's Test.

Students will begin class with the
Chapter 3 quiz.

They will then complete the
colaborative activity The Dominant Primordial Beast identifying the
characteristics that have enabled Buck to survive and thrive in this
environment.
Homework: Students should be studying for
Wednesday's Test.

Students will begin class using a map
to examine significant events to this point in the story.

They will predict how Chapter 4 will
begin before experiencing the beginning of the chapter and
responding to their prediction.

They will use remaining time to
continue their work on Vocabulary Assignment #2.
Homework: Vocabulary Assignment #2 is
due on Friday.

read and respond to Chapter 4 events.

Once they have finished the reading
and study guide, they will use remaining time to continue their work
