December 9 - 13 Assignments listed here represent the "Plan" for the week. Plans of course are subject to change as needed, so this should not be considered the last word on what will take place in class or will be assigned for homework. When plans do change however, the changes will be reflected here (hopefully by the evening of the day in which they are known to exist).

Students will begin the class with 10 minutes
of independent
reading (Students who did not take the Unit Assessment on Friday
will take it at this time).

Students will then collaboratively
complete Grammar Lesson SU6 L3 "Active and Passive Voice." Student
teams will work their way through the activities and examples using
a structure called Numbered Heads Together, where they discuss each
question as a team and come to consensus on a answer ensuring that
all team mates can defend their choice.

Activity will then be reviewed
selecting teams and members randomly. Students that correctly
answer questions earn points for their team.
Homework: Students
should
complete their 1/2 hour of independent reading tonight. Although
Daily Reading Logs will be optional, students are encouraged to complete
them to take more control over their grades. 2 Word Work words
will be due by the end of the week.

Tuesday

Students will begin the class with 10 minutes
of independent
reading.

Students will be given class time to
complete Quiz Corrections to recover their grade from Friday's Unit
Assessment. The process will be reviewed and students will get
the remainder of class time to complete and turn in their
corrections. Students who do not have enough time to complete
their work in class may do so for homework.

Assessment so we can see what kids already know going into the next
unit and to compare their progress at the end of the unit.

Students begin the class with independent
reading.

Students will then begin the 8C
Science and Science Fiction, where we will read Gris Grimley's
graphic novel adaptation of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein.
We will begin with the lesson vocabulary and then download the
related texts.

Students will then reflect on
previous knowledge of the story of Frankenstein.
Responses will be discussed.

complete their 1/2 hour of independent reading tonight. Although
Daily Reading Logs will be optional, students are encouraged to complete
them to take more control over their grades. 2 Word Work words
will be due by the end of the week.

Students begin the class with independent
reading.

Students will then complete the 8C
Science and Science Fiction, where we will read Gris Grimley's
graphic novel adaptation of Mary Shelly's Frankenstein.
We will begin reading and discussing the text and students will
complete a family tree identifying the relationship between the
opening characters.

Students will use any additional time
to work on their word work or independent reading.
Homework: If students are caught
up with the completion of their 1st Drafts and self assessments, they
have no additional homework over the weekend.
