Assignments listed here represent the "Plan" for the week.  Plans of course are subject to change as needed, so this should not be considered the last word on what will take place in class or will be assigned for homework.  When plans do change however, the changes will be reflected here (hopefully by the evening of the day in which they are known to exist).

All 7th Grade ELA Classes

Monday

  • Students will begin class with a look at the objectives for the week and then begin the DOG daily Grammar Warm-up.  Students identify the parts of speech and sentence parts for the given sentence for the week.

  • Students will then complete the reading of The Giver and then be introduced to "The Giver Final Project."  We will examine the choiceboard students will choose from to demonstrate their understanding of the novel.  We will then look at a student sample project that was completed for a similar choiceboard but in response to a different novel.  We will examine what the student did well.

  • Students will then begin planning their own approach to the choiceboard.

  • WIN Time will committed to independent work.

Homework:  There is no homework asigned this week other than what students take on for themselves.

Tuesday

  • Students will begin class with a look at the objectives for the day and then begin the DOG daily Grammar Warm-up.  Students will then complete Steps 3-5 examining the clauses and sentence type, punctuating and capitalizing the sentence, and finally diagramming it to expose the relationships between the main parts of the sentence.

  • Students will be given remaining time to work on The Giver projects.

  • WIN Time will committed to independent work.

Homework:  There is no homework asigned this week other than what students take on for themselves.

Wednesday

  • Students will take the DOG Grammar Quiz examining their mastery of precision of language.

  • Students will use any time left after the quiz to work on their projects.

Thursday

  • Students will complete and turn in their work on "The Giver Final Project."

  • End of Year Book Give Away - Students will make their first two selections from the available books to take home for their summer reading.

Homework:  There is no homework asigned this week other than what students take on for themselves.

Friday

  • Students will begin The Giver Motion Picture and make comparisons between the two story telling mediums.

  • Students will make an additional book selection from the End of Year Book Giveaway if titles continue to be available.

  • Students will be introduced to "The Letter," which we will write next week before leaving for summer vacation.

Homework:  Students should bring a postage stamp next week.
