January 4 - 6

Assignments listed here represent the "Plan" for the week.  Plans of course are subject to change as needed, so this should not be considered the last word on what will take place in class or will be assigned for homework.  When plans do change however, the changes will be reflected here (hopefully by the evening of the day in which they are known to exist).

Students should be getting a new book to read either from home or from my shelves.  Students who need to recover their Unit 2 Benchmark should be completin Quiz Corrections.  They are due by Wednesday of next week.

Students who need extra assistance or need to discuss their projects may clip this pass and use it to see me Tuesday - Thursday in the morning before school.

Extra Help is available this week.

Students may use this pass to get help with assigned work
or to discuss Book Projects and Presentations.

Students without passes may not be permitted
to enter the building before school.

All 7th Grade ELA Classes

Wednesday

  • Students will begin class with a look at the three days we have this week and make a committment to how they are going to make 2023 better than 2022.

  • Students will then complete an activity called Parting Messages, which will separate them from their previous team and prepare them to meet their new collaborative team.

  • Old team business will be discussed identifying the team from each class that earns tomorrow's pizza party.  The class challenge will then take place.

  • Students will then be introduced to the new seating chart and place their materials that stay in the room in their new team bins.

  • WIN Time

Homework: Students should complete 30 minutes of independent reading nightly this week and complete their reading logs to document it.  They should also find the song lyrics they will use next week for the poetry analysis mini-project.

Thursday

  • Students will establish and present their new team identity using the Uncommon Commonalities process.

  • WIN Time.

Friday

  • Students will begin class with the weekly Funny-bone inferential activity.

  • Students will then examine Katy Perry's song lyrics to find examples of the poetic devices we have been studying.  The results will be shared and discussed.

  • Students complete the week by examining what they have learned over the last 4 months on their week in review.

  • WIN Time.
